I thought I should post about this article from NHL.com today. As we all know, Ovie had 9 games without scoring a goal in the beginning of this season. And who can blame the guy? His 83 year old grandfather was dying and he needed to be with him. That probably bothered him a lot. He was getting hits, shots and times to score goals, he just never produced any. And it didn't help that his fellow teammate and friend off the ice, Alexander Semin, was leading the team and, at times, the league, in goals and points. That probably put much more pressure on him too.
Now, however, he says he feels like his regualr self again. In the games against Tampa Bay and Carolina he produced 2 goals, 3 assists and 5 hits, helping to get the victories of those games. Here is what he had to say about his improvement thus far:
"Right now I feel great," Ovechkin said. "I feel free right now, and I'm enjoying my time again. I just think about the game and I think about the team, and I think about what I have to do better."
Keep it up Ovie!
